Popcorn disease is the most serious fungal disease of mulberry in Taiwan. It caused heavy loss in fruit production. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of benomyl in mulberry, and investigate the disease incidence of Sclerotinia and the effect on quality in fruit ripening period. The results showed that spraying benomyl twice have the best effect, which makes the mulberry Sclerotinia incidence only 3.5%. The fruit length, weight, firmness, total soluble solids , titratable acidity and sugar-acid ratio showed no significant differences between the experimental groups. Compared with other groups, the group without spraying pesticides had the fruit width by 19.90 mm, the fruit shape index by 1.95, and the fruit-shaped was short and wide. Spraying benomyl once made the highest values of L (15.70) and a (1.42), which showed that the color of peel was more deeper. The groups with spraying benomyl once and without spraying pesticides contained the highest total anthocyanin (1854.1 mg / L and 1838.6 mg / L, respectively) and total anthocyanin content (377.05 mg / L and 339.01 mg / L, respectively). Mulberry had not been detected of contained any pesticide residues after spraying benomyl. This result is still in the experimental stage. For the practical application in field, it requires further precise experimental tests and the announcement from the authorities of pesticide.
