The 178 isolates of soil bacterium were isolated from Miaoli area in this study. The isolates were tested against with three seedling blight pathogens by the dual culture technique. There were 15 isolates selected which were thermo-stable and antagonic to the three seedling blight pathogens. The best one of them was Bacillus subtilis ML15-4 isolate. Futher more, ML15-4 was inoculated in 10L formulator for 4 days, 1X109 CFU/ml endospores could be produced. Irrigation of ML15-4 107CFU/ml fermentation broth, it could reduced morbidity from 66.7%(CK) to 16.7% better than Bacillus subtilis 3R(41.7%), neutralized phosphorous acid solution(50.0%), and chemical treatment morbidity(0%), respectively, and the isolate of ML15-4 could inhibited the seedling blight pathogen to spread by 4.5 times compared to the control group (CK). The results indicated that the application ML15-4 could be effective to control rice seedling blight. It could replace conventional chemical pesticides and help promotion of organic seedling cultivation in the future.
