Application of predator insect on pest control in greenhouse

Date:2014-06-16

The most common used pesticides (nine fungicides and ten insecticides) on strawberry and tomato were screened by the mortality rate of green lacewing young larvae. The recommended concentration of pesticides were sprayed on strawberry leaves in semifield trials of contact poison. The mortality rate of green lacewing larvae was recorded after different days of residual. According to semi-field toxicity testing, nine kinds of fungicide and six kinds of miticide were at harmless level (mortality < 25%) after spraying, it’s safe for the release of the lacewing larvae. Tebufenpyrad is at mild toxicity level (mortality =25 to 50%) on the first day after spraying, then is at harmless level; insecticides Dinotefuran, imidacloprid and Chlorofenapyr were at moderately toxicity level after spraying (mortality rate = 51~ 75%) to strongly toxic level (mortality rate > 75%), and residual problem was exited. The persistent toxicity of Dinotefuran was the shortest, imidacloprid and Chlorofenapyr were up to 10 days. Orius flower bug larvae were also tested by the same method. Abamectin, Emamectin benzoate and Methomyl were at harmless level after 2 days treatment. Toxic and persistent toxic of Chlorofenapyr and lambda-Cyhalothrin were had longest effect. These results provided a basic reference for an integrated pest management when farmers chose pesticides .
