Application of natural enemies on insect pests of organic vegetables and fruits

Date:2014-06-17

Picromerus grizens (Dallas) is a kind of natural enemy insect which mainly predate pest insects of Lepidoptera order for food. We collected this black stink bugs ( Picromerus grizens), observed an its life habit in this year . Take advantage of the natural enemy preying habit and coordinate the density of pest insects with its occurrence timing, location and target damaged part of crops; we propagate a great number of natural enemies in the laboratory room. At the same time, integrate many kinds of predate natural enemies including Mallada basalis, Eocanthecona furcellata, Orius strigicollis and phytoseiids in order to prevent and control aphids, spider mites, Tabacco cutworms and thrips, solve resistance problem of mite and enhance the control effect. This year in strawberry seedling period, releasing a small amount of phytoseiids let them establish and reproduce their offspring at the seedling nursery. When the strawberry seedlings are transplanted into the field, the phytoseiids are with them and keep predating spider mite on the strawberry, and it can save the cost by the way. In the growing period of strawberry, detecting the density of pest insects should coordinate with supplying natural enemies i.e, (green lacewings and predatory mites) at any time. In February to April, release 3 Orius strigicollis on each strawberry plant to control the thrips and two-spotted spider mites. If there are 5 tabacco cutworms on every strawberry plant, release 3 predatory stink bugs right away.
