Development and utilization of mass rearing techniques in natural enemies

This purpose for this visit to Hawaii was to learn the control methods for oriental fruit fly (Bactrocera dorsalis) and melon fly (B. cucurbitae) . The U.S. Department of Agriculture -Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center and System Department of Plant and Environmental Protection Sciences of University of Hawaii was visited from 8.21~8.31.2013. The projects is「 Hawaii Area-Wide Fruit Fly Integrated Pest Management, HAW-FLYPM 」 and their mass rearing techniques and application of fruit fly parasitoid. After this visit, we try to set up the rearing techniques of fruit fly parasitoid in the laboratory, and to release them in the field, while combining sanitary practices to maintain natural resources to reduce population of oriental fruit fly and melon fly.
